"Honey" is 13 yrs. old. She is a very sweet mare, that wasn't been ridden much. Basically used as a broodmare most of her life. But, I thought she was very willing & beautiful, and decided to invest the time and energy into her.
I brought her home in the fall 0f 2007. I had been working her on trails, where she made great strides. She was nervous in the beginning, but has a trusting nature. With the BEST saddle gait! She is so smooth, and sure footed. She has tough feet, and doesn't need shoes. She gaits everywhere, and has a tremendous, fun motor. She always goes where I point her.
I had her wolf teeth pulled, her teeth floated, and that alone made a big difference in her riding, and holding the bit in her mouth. She was unsure of having a bath at first, but she is now a pro. With a bathing schedule of at least once a week. Farrier and worming care every 6 weeks. She loads and unloads, without hesitation. "Honey" stands 15.1H and is a dark chocolate, even when left in the pasture in the summer. Her mane and tail are long and full w/flaxen (almost white) in color.
Honey has always been noticed on the trail and people always ask if she is a Rocky Mountain Horse!! She is my favorite to ride now, and always my trail horse of choice. :)
UPDATE: MARCH 15, 2009 a chocolate stud colt was born. He has a white mane, tail ,and eyelashes! The only other white on this colt, is his star, thin balze and snip on his face. He is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! Imprinted, and people loving. He is available for sale. Click on their picture below for more pics and info!
To date, Honey has only had 1 bay and 6 chocolate foals. She has never had a sorrel or chestnut foal!!
